Lori Hosea is a 5th generation Southie…that’s South Boston for those of us who’ve never seen Good Will Hunting or The Departed. Southies are notoriously tough and gruff, but Lori is sweeter than pie and the ultimate Girl. If you love the glamorous aesthetic of Days Gone Past, be sure and check out photos of her work. She recently opened the chic Lori Hosea Studio in Boston’s hip Innovation District and we couldn’t be more thrilled. When she’s not at her studio, she’s lounging at home with her husband, who wisely keeps her addicted by feeding her butter- basted brussel sprouts and grilled beef tenderloin. The Good Ones are always taken!
Q: What’s the first thing you do when you get up in the morning?
A: I transfer from my comfy bed to my comfy couch, where I proceed to drink 32 oz of black coffee while checking emails and browse social media. (Wow Lori, that’s a LOT of coffee.)
Q: What advice do you have for someone starting out in the hair industry?
A: If you have a chance to assist at a salon that you admire their work go for it, even if it seems overwhelming push yourself, who you learn from will shape your career. Take as many classes as you can, most offer webinars and there is always YouTube no excuse to not be learning and growing.
Q: What’s the easiest way to turn a Bad Hair Day into a Good Hair Day?
